2B Fit program may help folks keep their New Year’s resolutions

Many people make New Year’s resolutions. The most common intentions involve eating healthier, getting more exercise and saving more money.

To help people reach these goals, the Northern Neck Family YMCA is introducing a 2B Fit program. It will help participants eat healthier, get regular exercise, and, because the program is free to YMCA members, save money, reported fitness coordinator and program leader Brandon Dameron.

Participants will meet once a week, for one hour, for eight weeks. Each session will include a physical activity and a nutritional component. The 2B Fit program will help participants with goal setting, facing and overcoming challenges, healthy cooking, safe and effective workouts, staying motivated, and other topics to help keep them healthy, fit and on track, said Dameron.

He hopes the program will put people on track to a healthier lifestyle, he said. He understands that starting a wellness program can be intimidating, said Dameron. Summoning the courage to begin is an accomplishment. He believes 2B Fit will offer a safe environment for participants to learn and set goals in a supportive atmosphere.

For convenience, the program will offer morning or afternoon sessions. The meetings will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, and 6 p.m. Thursday, January 10. The program will repeat beginning the week of March 4. Based on demand, more sessions may be added.

“We hope the community will take advantage of the 2B Fit program,” said Dameron. “The YMCA treats its members like family, and we want to help everyone meet their fitness goals.”
