Artisan guilds part of Arts on the Vine

Historic Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville, will hold an artisan open house on Saturday, September 8, as part of the Arts on the Vine – a Wine & Art Crawl.

All guilds will be on-site and demonstrating that day at the Tavern, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., reported manager Corinne Anthony Becker.

The Tavern Spinners & Weavers will dye fiber on the porch of the Transportation Museum Building. Meanwhile, upstairs in their Tavern studio, they will be weaving and spinning.

The Woodworkers Guild will be in the Tavern, demonstrating decorative woodburning. Sign up for a class to learn how to burn feathers or trees on wood.

In the forge, the Blacksmith Guild will be at work until noon. Watch and chat with a blacksmith.

The Quilt Guild will demonstrate in their studio inside the Tavern. Several other artisans in-residence also will participate…
