Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Danú

St. Patrick’s Day will arrive early in Kilmarnock this year when the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts ‘On Stage’ concert series presents the Celtic group, Danú.

The group will bring the traditional music of Ireland to the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock, at 7:30 p.m. March 15.

“As Irish luck would have it, our Kilmarnock audience will enjoy a musical journey to Ireland, as a warm up to the iconic cultural event celebrated all over the world,” said president Peggy Stalnaker.

Hailing from Waterford, Dublin, Donegal and Cork, Danú’s concerts throughout Ireland feature high-energy performance and glorious mix of ancient Irish music and new repertoire.

The globetrotting troupe of seven exceptional musicians brings its talents to a range of instruments including flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion and bouzouki. The award-winning group has toured throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, India, the Middle East and North America, with stops at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Symphony Space in New York City.

The concert sponsor is Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury. The season sponsor is Chesapeake Bank and Chesapeake Investment Group. Additional funding for the concert has been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
