Charles “Mel” Weston

REEDVILLE—Charles “Mel” Weston of Reedville passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 26, 2018.

Mel was born in Portsmouth on July13, 1949, to the late Charles and Mildred Weston.

Mel was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and served on the Apollo 15 recovery mission. He retired from Orkin and was a beloved youth baseball and soccer coach in Middlesex County.

Mel shared his many artistic talents expressed through Wind & Sea & Me Arts, karaoke singing and charming storytelling.

Mel is survived by his dear wife, Pat of the home; son, Ben Weston and his wife, Jennifer and grandchildren, Billy, Landon and Summer; son, Adam Weston and grandsons, Max and Avery; stepson, Kerry Bradley and his wife, Nicole and grandsons, Alex and Chris; brother, Bill; sister, Lil; and special friend, Ralph Langgood; sister-in-law, Denise and niece, Meghan.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Weston; and nephew, Jessie Weston.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 3, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Judith Thomson. Speakers will be special friends, Hubbard Davis and Lori Rice.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Hospice of Virginia and especially to Lori Rice, R.N. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Virginia, 1328 Tappahannock Boulevard, Tappahannock, VA 22560.
