KILMARNOCK—Members of the Kilmarnock administration and finance committee on December 6 recommended town council raise water and wastewater utility rates.
Members of the committee voted unanimously, 5-0, to recommend raising utility rates by about 6% every year until the water and wastewater utility services are no longer subsidized by the town. Committee members Rebecca Tebbs Nunn, Emerson Gravatt, Dr. Curtis H. Smith, Michael S. Sutherland and mayor Mae P. Umphlett voted to send the recommendation to council.
Two additional council members, Keith Butler and Les Spivey, also participated in the committee discussion.
