Lancaster Middle School will present its annual Veterans Day Program at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, in the LMS Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.
The LMS Symphonic Band will present patriotic musical selections, historical readings, poetry selections and a tribute to the branches of the armed forces, reported band director Kenny Flester.
The guest speaker will be Albert “Spike” Nunn, said Flester. Special guest Justin Burke will sing “Drive On”, a special song written by Johnny Cash about soldiers returning from the Vietnam War.
“This has always been a very popular event at LMS and we’re hoping it will be very entertaining, inspirational, educational and moving, said Flester.
The program will include some elements from previous years as well as new ones, he said.
“I invite all veterans in the Northern Neck to attend,” said Flester. “I look forward to seeing everyone there so we can thank them for their service.”
