Corrottoman Baptist Transportation Initiative serving the Boys & Girls Club gets a lift from the duPont Fund

A $70,000 grant from the Jesse Ball duPont Religious, Charitable and Educational Fund will help launch the Corrottoman Baptist Transportation Initiative for the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN).

“This January the BGCNN, in collaboration with Corrottoman Baptist Church, will begin a transportation program to help give youth from the River Road area of upper Lancaster County the opportunity to attend our after school program,” said executive director Phillip Mumford.

“For many families in the upper county, the distance to the club makes it difficult to pick up their children at the end of the day, so we will be offering a bus service to drop off youth at area churches,” he said. “This way parents and caregivers can pick them up closer to home, rather than having to make the long drive into Kilmarnock.”

This initiative has been made possible due to a partnership with Rev. David Cromer who successfully acquired the grant and reached out to other area churches for support. The other churches will allow youth to be dropped off at their locations and will provide volunteers to supervise youth while they wait to be picked up by family members…
