Failmezger seeks District 1 school board seat

LANCASTER—Carl E. Failmezger has qualified as a candidate on the November 7 ballot for Lancaster school board in District 1.

Failmezger has been a licensed Virginia attorney practicing law in Lancaster County since 1992 and was the Lancaster Magistrate from 2011-2016. He previously represented District 1 on the school board from 2006-2011 until he was required to resign because of a conflict with his appointment to the judiciary. While on the school board, Failmezger worked well with Jack Larson, he said.

Failmezger is a Supreme Court certified Guardian Ad Litem, representing troubled juveniles in distress.

Failmezger is a Cub Scout leader with Pack 222 in Lively, YMCA soccer and basketball coach, and a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Neck in Kilmarnock, where he also teaches chess and actively encourages underprivileged children to perform better in school with STAR readers, A team (math), and SOL programs, he said.
