Fisher’s photography exhibit featured through March at RWC

Ruth Fisher of Irvington is a busy woman. When not working full time as the receptionist at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury (RWC), she’s out scouting for beautiful pictures to take in the Northern Neck, Tangier Island and beyond.

A Northern Neck native, Fisher likes to capture images of the way she sees and loves the area. Her photography will be on display during March at RWC.

“Barns, landscapes, water, boats, fishermen and farming are my favorite things to photograph,” Fisher said.

About 15 years ago, Fisher invested in a nice camera—an Olympus SLR and she’s been a major shutterbug ever since. She’s exhibited at RWC twice before and creates a calendar of her Northern Neck images every year which she sells to friends, real estate agents, watermen and others.

Fisher also is a golfer and has been part of a foursome that has won the ladies flight a number of times in the annual RWC Foundation golf tournament over the years.

“Even when I play golf, I take my camera,” Fisher said. “Some of holes are really pretty especially at the Golden Eagle. One of holes there even has bald eagles. I haven’t been able to capture one close enough yet though.”

Residents and community members are invited to view Fisher’s photography exhibition from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily throughout March at RWC, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington.
