KILMARNOCK—George William “Billy” Delano, 81, of Kilmarnock passed on to his heavenly home on December 8, 2016, while surrounded by his family. Billy was born on January 28, 1935, to the late Annie Beatley and Joseph Delano of Beverlyville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eleanor; his sister, Jo Ann Hoofnagle and husband, John of Chesapeake; daughters, Anne Marie and husband, James Lowe of Sterling, Connie and husband, David Hudnall of Heathsville, Cathy Christean and husband, Bill Lee of Kilmarnock and Wanda and husband, David Layman of Gloucester; six grandchildren, Jennifer Gordon, Kenny Lee, Joshua Lowe, Justin Hudnall, Ethan and Wyatt Layman; and four step-grandchildren, David Hudnall, Christy Routten, Jo Anne Cochran and Sandy Smith.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, loving and caring heart and a smile that could light up the darkest of days. He enjoyed his time spent with his family and was very proud of his six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Grayson, Aiden, Makayla, Hayden and Christopher.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 10, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, with pastor Patrick Creed and pastor Harvey Best officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved mother and father at Fairfields Baptist Church Cemetery, Burgess. Family received friends prior to the service.
