WHITE STONE—Gilbert Unangst, 85, of White Stone passed away on May 15, 2018. He was a retired U. S. Air Force pilot.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Tamsin B. Unangst; children, John Unangst (Jane) of White Stone, Elizabeth Anne Heller of O’Fallon, Ill., and Steven Gilbert Unangst (Paige) of Beaverton, Ore.; five grandchildren, Christina O’Neil, Gilbert Unangst, Tammie Marlen, Kenneth Heller and Grace Unangst; three great-grandchildren, Katie O’Neil, Elena O’Neil and Martin Unangst; and a sister-in-law, Trudy Unangst of Weems.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Hervey Brereton Unangst.

Gilbert graduated with a degree in physics from Penn State University and was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity.

After his retirement from the Air Force, he spent five years with the Department of Social Services and held numerous positions with Lancaster County and Irvington.

He had a great passion for carpentry, woodworking and gemology and he also loved mountain laurel.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
