Grant Biddlecomb, 14, an eighth-grade student at Northumberland Middle School (NMS), has been serving as a page in the Virginia Senate for the 2018 General Assembly session as part of the Virginia Page Leadership Program. He was selected to be a part of the program from 190 applicants.
Biddlecomb is the son of Joe and Dawn Biddlecomb of Reedville, and the grandson of Mike and Ginny Crowther of White Stone, and Beverley and the late Fred Biddlecomb of Fairport.
The mission of the program is to facilitate a structured environment in which young Virginians embrace responsibility and accountability, develop professional characteristics through strict standards of conduct, and engage in the legislative process through work, observation and discussion, said Senate Page Leadership Program director Bladen Finch who was a page in 1994.
The page position in the General Assembly has been traced back to at least 1850, but some of the current components of the program began in the 1970s, said Finch…
