Small craft advisories again stole a day of competition for the Northern Neck Anglers Club (NNAC) on Saturday, August 19.
However, the Spanish Lessons Tournament, sponsored by R.W.’s Sport Shop in Callao, continued on Sunday, August 20.
Due to small craft advisories in two of the club’s four tournament fishing zones, Saturday was canceled as a tournament fishing day and the competition was held as a one-day tournament on Sunday, said tournament director and NNAC vice president Mark Roy. Target species were Spanish mackerel, bluefish and spot. First- and second-place finishers for each species will receive gift certificates from R.W.’s Sport Shop in Callao.
Evan Gregg landed the winning Spanish mackerel, a 2 pound, 4 ounce fish.
Stuart McKenzie landed the winning bluefish, a 1 pound, 4 ounce fish. Gregg also caught a 1 pound, 4 ounce bluefish, but McKenzie’s hit the scales first.
McKenzie landed the winning spot as well, an 8 ounce fish.
All of the winning fish were weighed at Lewisetta Marina.
