Ian R. James

BOULDER, COLO.—Ian Reeves James died peacefully on October 20, 2017, at age 50, after a struggle with cancer. He lived in Boulder, Colo., where he moved after graduating from college in 1990. Skiing was his passion.

He was born in New York and attended grade school at East Woods School in Oyster Bay, followed by Avon Old Farms boarding school and then Skidmore College, where he majored in business. He was a former vice-president of Computer Associates Inc. and a business consultant.

Ian is survived by his daughter, Avery and her mother, Wendy James, both of Boulder; his father and stepmother, Leland and Marion James of Irvington; his mother and stepfather, Erica and Henry Babcock of New York; a brother, Stuart James of New York; a half-brother, Leland T.M. James of Millenbeck; sisters, Chauncey Monte-Sano of Michigan and Laura Wadsworth of Massachusetts; four nieces; and two nephews.

Celebrations of Ian’s life will be held in Boulder, Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., and Irvington at a later date.
