ICYCC scholarship tournament raises $2,400

The Jack Johnson-Buddy Loving Scholarship Tournament was held on Sunday, September 17, at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club.

This event honors two of the club’s past visionaries, Jack Johnson, PGA, and Buddy Loving, reported head golf professional Brenda Mayer, PGA.

Johnson was the head professional from 1970-75. He created the scholarship, said Mayer. Loving was a golf course architect and member who developed the plans to expand the course from 9 holes to 18.

The scholarship is awarded to a student golfer from Northumberland High School or Lancaster High School based on integrity, leadership, teamwork and academics, she said.

Eighty players attended the event, 40 women and 40 men, said Mayer. The event raised over $2,400 for the scholarship fund.

The Men’s Division Net Champions, Dwight Clarke, Bill Broaddus, Jim Rankin and Charlie Bradshaw, shot a 56.2.

The Ladies Division Net Champions, Carol Johnson, Tammy Corrie, Kay Stout and Ellie Davis, shot a  58.3.
