IRVINGTON—The Irvington town council on May 13 adopted an ordinance to regulate dealers in precious metals and gems.
The ordinance was drafted at the request of council member Wayne Nunnally in order to reflect statewide regulations of precious metals and gems, and to conform the town’s laws with an ordinance adopted by the Lancaster board of supervisors last year, according to clerk of the council Sharon Phillips.
Any person or business engaged in purchasing secondhand precious metals or gems, removing precious metals or gems from manufactured items, or buying, acquiring, or selling precious metals or gems that have been removed from manufactured items in the town of Irvington will now be required to obtain a permit….
