James A. Brent Sr.

KING GEORGE—Deacon James Alonzo Brent Sr. of King George died July 20, 2018, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.

James was born on October 7, 1939, in King George County to the late Rosie Eleanor Walker. He graduated from Ralph Bunche High School.

James was a member of Union Bethel Baptist Church in King George and later, Little Ark Baptist Church in King George, where he served as chairman of the deacon board until his passing.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963 from McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey.

James worked for the federal government at Quantico Marine Base in the facilities management shop from 1975-2000. He and his wife, Audrey, later opened J.B. Dry Cleaners in Dahlgren where they successfully served the community until 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; children, James Brent Jr. of Haymarket, and Tammy VanNorden of Stafford; grandchildren, Daniel Fairley II of Charlottesville, and Tyler and James Brent III of Haymarket; and sibling, Linda D. Pinder of Philadelphia, Pa.

A funeral was held July 28 at Little Ark Baptist Church. Interment followed August 1 at Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico.
