Jean D. C. Biddle

KILMARNOCK—Jean Davis Crowther Biddle died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, after a courageous battle with COPD.

She was born June 21, 1931, in Tappahannock, the youngest child of Benjamin H. and Hattie Griffin Davis.

Jean was preceded in death by husbands, R. Garnett Crowther Sr. in 1995 and Robert B. Biddle in 2002; brothers, Ben, Byard, Carroll, Ralph, Raymond and Warner Davis; and sister, Dana D. Neale.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda C. Mallory (Ted) of Richmond; her sons, O. Michael Crowther (Jenny) of White Stone and R. Garnett Crowther Jr. of Tappahannock; stepchildren, Anne C. Holmes (Dennis) of Milpitas, Calif., Jim Swann (Colleen) of Williamsburg, Barb B. Marler (Dan), Mary B. Rossiter (Pete), Dan and Jimmy Biddle, all of N.Y. She was blessed to have five grandchildren, Christy Crowther, Dawn C. Biddlecomb (Joseph), Beth C. Angle (Travis), Leslie M. Wiltshire (Ellis) and Matthew Mallory; great-grandchildren, Davis, Grant and Will Biddlecomb, Henry and Carter Angle and Ellis Wiltshire IV; step-grandson, Tait Holmes; loving nieces, Bonnie D. Layne, Judy C. Miller, Hope D. Sullivan, Beth D. Straub and Nancy H. Hughes; and dear friends for many years, Doulin and Nell Wilkins.

The family would like to thank Carol Best, Helen Gaines and Iris Butler for the love and care they have shown Ma over the past four years.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 12, at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kilmarnock United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 2095, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
