Virginia Commonwealth Bank (formerly Bank of Lancaster) has proudly served the Northern Neck of Virginia and the surrounding counties since 1930, and the bank’s family is very appreciative of the beauty in the area. For the eleventh consecutive year, the bank has offered its calendar photo contest to the community.
“We love highlighting the beauty of our area, through an annual calendar featuring scenes of our landmarks, nature and livelihoods found on our creeks and tucked into our landscapes,” said vice president and marketing officer Kylie Bransford.
The requirements are horizontal, outdoor-theme photos by amateur photographers. The enthusiasm from the community is always astounding, said Bransford.
“There were 121 entries, and all of the photos were beautiful,” she said.
For the judging process, a number is placed on each photo and then they are sorted by season. Judges do not know who took the photos or where they were taken unless it is a landmark. Each judge selects three photos for each season. All of the judges’ selections are then gathered and after a group discussion, the final three photos for each season are selected. The cover photo is selected as an overall favorite and the honorable mentions are also selected.
