Lady Indians wallop Lady Devils, 11-3, in junior varsity finale

Northumberland defeated Lancaster, 11-3, in the junior varsity softball season ender for Lancaster on May 16.

The Lady Devils held the Lady Indians to a 4-2 lead through the sixth inning when NHS blew the contest open.

Rachel Woolard pitched five-and-a-half innings with Blair Smith relieving her in the sixth.

At bat for LHS, Woolard, Smith, Madison Giese, Katherine Thomas and Amanda Steensma had one hit each.

Lancaster picked up two wins in a double header against Washington & Lee during the final week of play. Woolard got the, 4-2 win in the first game and Smith the 13-3 win in the second.

In the first game, Woolard, Thomas and Steensma each got a hit to lead LHS’s offense.

In the second, Thomas led LHS at bat with a home run and a triple, while Giese and Smith got two hits each.

Leighton McCranie hit a single, double and a triple and Amaya Veney hit a single and triple. Abria Jackson, McKenna Jones and Steensma had one hit apiece.
