Leonard E. Scott

Leonard E. Scott

HEALDSBURG, CALIF.—Leonard “Len” Elizabeth Scott passed away at her California home, surrounded by family, on August 4, 2018.

Len was born in Ocran in 1918 and lived much of her life in Maryland, California and Virginia supporting her minister husband Fred Scott and offering spiritual support to many. During the last five years of her life she made a new home in Healdsburg, Calif., with family and many new and loving friends.

Our mom was classy, witty, smart and invited everyone into her heart and home and cared to share their stories. She was interested in everyone’s life and accepted the many differences in our world and its changes as she lived her 99 years.

Her family has been an extension of herself as she became the matriarch of us all in bringing us together to share and love. Her examples of love, faith and acceptance have been so endearing for all of us. She will always be missed as she has been the center of our universe for many years and loved us all so deeply. We love you mom, “gooma,” grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Scott; brother, Buddy Clark; sisters, Jesse Engler and Mary Lou Rosenthal; and grandson, Quinn Fox.

She is survived by her brother, Cyrus Clark; children, Lee Collison (partner, Judy Haven) in Virginia, Diane Wall (husband, Allen), Dana Fox, Len Racadio (husband, Sam) and Pat Callahan; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, at Trinity Methodist Church Cemetery, Millers Tavern. A Celebration of Life will be held in California later in September.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the scholarship in her honor, “Elizabeth’s Fund” at Santa Rosa Junior College, foundation.santarosa.edu/giving-srjc (put Elizabeth’s Fund in the notes section); or to White Stone United Methodist Women’s Group, where Len had served as president, White Stone, VA.

Graveside services entrusted to Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock.
