LHS golfers sink Trojans, fall to Raiders

Sheridan Ford shot a team-low 41 and all six of the Red Devil golfers shot in the 40s last Thursday as Lancaster took a 13-stroke win over Essex at Golden Eagle Golf Course in Irvington.

Spencer Crittenden and Nicklaus Ford both shot a 44 and Blake Smith came in with a 47 in the nine-hole match as the four scorers for the Devils, who finished with a team score of 176. Roman Cutler also shot a 47 and Jacob Hudnall a 48.

Tristan Gross, playing in the number three spot for the Trojans, posted the match low of 40 to lead Essex, which finished with a 189. Hunter Shackleford shot a 45, Cliff Whitlock a 51 and Tae White a 53 as the four scorers for the Trojans.

Reed Thorne shot a 36 for the match low as Rappahannock beat Lancaster last Tuesday at Quinton Oaks Golf Course near Callao. The Raiders finished with a 154 team score, 20 strokes better than Lancaster’s 174.

Daniel O’Bier shot a 38 for Rappahannock, Brandon Whaley a 39 and Sydney Deshazo a 41.

S. Ford had the low for Lancaster, shooting a 37, while Crittenden had a 45 and N. Ford and Hudnall tied with a 46 each. Cutler and Evan Steensma also played for LHS.

The Devils were scheduled to wrap up regular season play September 19 against Northumberland and will play in the Northern Neck District tournament on September 25.
