LHS students complete safe boating course


Students rush in and take their seats. The school bell rings and immediately the class is off and running until the end of period bell rings.

This was the first time the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fishery’s safe boating course has been presented in this fashion. Flotilla 33 instructors committed to making presentations for 17 school days in a row.

“It was not easy to adjust an 8-hour course into 25-minute sessions,” said Flotilla education officer Mike Kelley. “We had to redesign the course to meet the time constrains…
