CAMDEN, N.C.—Mary Kathryn Frank, 86, slipped quietly into her eternal reward, Sunday, July 8, 2018, after several years of declining health.

Born in Iowa, she was raised in Alexandria and moved to Camden in 2006.

She was the daughter of the late Oliver Wilson Cope IV and Faye Wilson Grier Cope.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Stanley C. Frank; her sister, Marjorie Grier Nilles; and her brother, C. Duane Cope.

Most recently, she was a member of Camden United Methodist Church having devoted many hours to the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Morattico, serving as secretary of the administrative council, flower chairman for the worship committee and longtime president of the United Methodist Women for which she was awarded a lifetime membership.

She was a member of the Doctor Elijah Dick Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for over 55 years and served as regent, state chairman of the Virginia DAR Chapter and chairman of the American Flag committee. She was an associate member of the Betsy Dowdy Chapter of the North Carolina DAR.

Mrs. Frank was an avid lover of growing and arranging flowers and served as president of several Virginia state garden clubs. A member of the National Daffodil Society, she grew and entered daffodils in numerous local and national shows, winning many ribbons.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Katherine Frank Miniclier (John F. Jr.) of Charles City and Eleanor Frank Matney (Bobby F.) of Camden; stepgrandchildren, Heather Barrett, John S. Miniclier, Nicole Hughes and Andrew Miniclier; stepgreat-grandchildren, Benjamin, Peter and Robert Barrett and Gideon T. Hughes; two nephews; and a niece.

The family would like to thank her best friend Doris Nixon and her caregiver, Susan Tolson.

The family received friends on Saturday, July 14, at 5 Trestles Court, Camden. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Morattico, with Pastor Taewan Kang officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s White Chapel Cemetery in Lively, VA. Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends at Emmanuel Church for a time of fellowship.
