Motown is coming to Northumberland

In the early 1960s, some of the most iconic names in the history of popular music were discovered in the Motor City of Detroit, Mich., better known simply as Motown and soul.

In celebration of the Motown music and style, the Rappahannock Concert Association will present the Masters of Soul at 7:30 p.m. September 30 at the Performing Arts Theater, Northumberland High School, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.

The Rappahannock Concert Association is grateful to River Counties Community Foundation for its grant supporting this concert, reported publicity chairman Nellie Landrum.

The Masters of Soul include the popular TFC Dance Band and The Fabulous Crooners Doo-Wop singers.

The audience will take the ultimate stroll down memory lane as they re-live, or discover for the first time, the incredible harmonies and smooth moves made famous by The Temptations, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, The Four Tops, Diana Ross & the Supremes, Jackson Five, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas and James Brown.  This high energy show is perfect for audiences of all ages, said Landrum.

Adult tickets for the concert are $25 each. Season tickets are $100 for seven concerts in the 2017-18 concert series. Students are admitted at no charge. Purchase tickets at rappahannockconcerts.org, or 866-217-8149.
