NHS baseball team climbs to state semifinals


The pre-season prediction was for Northumberland’s baseball team to finish fourth in the Northern Neck District. Well, that didn’t happen.

The Indians dug deep when it mattered, peaked when it mattered and finished as a Class 1 semifinalist after losing last Friday to the eventual state champion.

Riverheads ended Northumberland’s dream season with a 7-1 win at Radford University’s Carter Memorial Stadium and the Gladiators went on to rout Honaker, 13-1, in the state title game Saturday…
