HEATHSVILLE—Northumberland County recently selected Wampler-Eanes Appraisal Group Ltd. of Daleville as general assessor for the 2020 general reassessment of real estate values.
The last reassessment was effective for the 2014 tax year, reported county administrator E. Luttrell Tadlock. The current assessments do not reflect recent changes in market value. The Code of Virginia requires localities to reassess all property at 100% of fair market value.
The firm intends to begin a sales study August 6 to determine general market values. Assessment team members will evaluate sales of all types of real estate to establish a base line of comparable values for the various types of properties in the county…
