Northumberland summer reading program rocks

Northumberland Public Library, the Northumberland Elementary School and the Northumberland Family YMCA in Heathsville are teaming up to bring another grand summer reading program—“Libraries Rock!”

The program will open with “Bagpipes Rock!” at 10:30 a.m. June 18 at the YMCA, 6348 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville. The Kilmarnock & District Pipe Band will be featured.

The entire family is invited to attend these special programs throughout the summer, sponsored by the library, reported Pamela Hagy.

Other programs include a magician, a storyteller, a theatre group presenting “The Wizard of Oz” and some animal friends from the Virginia Living Museum.

Wednesday Story Times at 10 a.m. will feature “Read to the Beat” themes at the library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville. Story time is for ages three and up…
