RCC math contest winners announced

On May 9, at the Glenns and Warsaw Campuses, Rappahannock Community College hosted the RCC Spring Math Contest.

 This was the largest individual contest to date, with 172 students from 18 schools involved, reported director of communications Eric Pesola. The contest has been held for 45 years at RCC.

Winners

Algebra 1, first, Anna Pierce, St. Margaret’s School (SMS); second, Dillon J. Miner, Montross Middle School; third, Samuel James Baker, Northumberland Middle School (NMS).

Geometry, first, Lei “Janet” Shi, SMS; second, Christie Hirning, Rappahannock High School (RHS); third, Will Reger, NMS.

Algebra 2, first, Madison Giese, Lancaster High School (LHS); second, Maggie Collins, RHS; third, Nekhita Kassey New Kent High School (NKHS).

Precalculus, first, Brandon Bonner, NKHS; second, William McCarty, LHS; third, Mary O’Sullivan, Chesapeake Bay Governors School-Warsaw.

Other participating schools included Colonial Beach High School, Hamilton Holmes Middle School, King George Middle School, King William High School, King and Queen Central High School, Lancaster Middle School, Middlesex High School, Northumberland High School, Richmond County Middle School, St. Claire Walker Middle School and Ware Academy.
