Record wins Farm Bureau’s top journalistic honor

HOT SPRINGS—The Rappahannock Record in Kilmarnock captured the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation’s (VFBF) 2018 Ishee-Quann Award, the top honor in Farm Bureau’s annual Journalism Awards program.

The Record also won the non-daily newspaper category for the third consecutive year and for the 12th year in the past 14. The Record previously claimed the Ishee-Quann Award in 2011, 2012 and 2014.

The award is named in part for Jeff Ishee, the host of Virginia Farming, which airs across Virginia and nationwide. Ishee also operates On the Farm, a daily, web-based farm news service. The late Homer Quann was WSVA radio’s farm news director for several decades and was known as the most dedicated agricultural reporter in Virginia.
