Registration is due May 3 for diabetes awareness class

Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital and the Northern Neck Family YMCA recently announced the second installment in an ongoing Diabetes Awareness Series.

Each class is independently geared toward anyone interested in learning more about healthy steps that can be taken to prevent or manage diabetes, for themselves or a loved one, said Bon Secours RGH marketing coordinator Joanna Marchetti. Participants may attend any or all sessions.

The next class will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 9 at the YMCA, 39 William B. Graham Court, Kilmarnock.

The session will include complimentary lunch, information from Bon Secours RGH registered dietitian Jennifer Miller, physical activity tips from YMCA fitness professionals and a question and answer session with Bon Secours RGH medical director Will Stallings, MD, the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic medical director Charles Maresh, MD, and Patricia Monge-Meberg, MD, and Sheila Branson, NP, of Bay Internists.

This event is free of charge and open to the public. Space is limited, pre-registration is required. Register by May 3 at 435-8662.
