Sheriff’s Report

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported one misdemeanor charge.

A Johns Neck Road man, 31, was charged January 2 with petit larceny.

Activity report

Jan. 1: Staff responded to the 100 block of School Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance involving a weapon, to the 100 block of Woods Drive to assist emergency management services (EMS) with a medical emergency, to the 500 block of Merry Point Road for a suspicious person, and to the 1000 block of Johns Neck Road for a domestic assault and vandalism.

Jan. 2: Staff responded to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 100 block of Primary School Circle for a suspicious vehicle, to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road to investigate an unattended death, to the 100 block of White Marsh Lane for a domestic disturbance and vandalism, and to the 100 block of School Street to assist KPD with disorderly persons.

Jan. 3: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver, to the 500 block of North Main Street to investigate credit card fraud and grand larceny, to 10 weather-related incidents in the county, to Jessie duPont Highway and Bluff Point Road for a traffic crash, to Old Fairgrounds Way to assist KPD with a fight in progress, to the 200 block of Christopher Drive to assist KPD with a fight in progress, and to the 200 block of Gaines Road for a prowler.

Jan. 4: Staff responded to the 1100 block of Mosquito Point Road for a domestic disturbance, and to Mary Ball and Old Orchard roads for a traffic crash with injuries.

Jan. 5: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Lively Oaks roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for a traffic crash.

Jan. 6: Staff responded to the 100 block of School Street to assist KPD with a domestic assault, to the 2900 block of Lara Road for a missing adult (located shortly after this report),  to the 100 block of School Street to assist KPD with an altercation involving multiple people and a trespasser, to the 2000 block of Weems Road for a larceny of gravel, and to the 100 block of Riverview Lane for a prowler.

Jan. 7: Staff responded to the 100 block of School Street to assist KPD with a possible domestic disturbance.

Staff also conducted nine traffic stops, issued two summonses, assisted 26 motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled one call for traffic control, investigated nine building alarms, logged three inmate transports, received nine E911 hang-up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Jarvis Point Road, a fire/smoke alarm on Dividing Creek, separate traffic crashes at Jessie duPont Highway and Bluff Point Road, Mary Ball and Goodluck roads, and on Bluff Point Road, and assisted EMS with calls on Abby Way and Irvington Road.

The White Stone VFD assisted EMS with calls on Taft Beach Road and Lee Lane, and responded with Kilmarnock VFD to a structure fire on Mary Ball Road.

The Upper Lancaster VFD assisted EMS with calls on Lumberlost Trail and Levelgreen Road, and responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and Old Orchard roads, a possible structure fire on Morattico Road, a brush fire on Old Orchard Road and with Kilmarnock VFD to a possible structure fire on Waddytown Road.

EMS calls

For the week of December 31 through January 6, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 39 calls for service including 22 medical emergencies, seven injuries, six traffic accidents, a fire and three other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported misdemeanor charges against seven individuals.

A Wicomico Church man, 41, was charged December 19 with failing to comply with CCP for an original charge of assault and battery. This was a Westmoreland County capias served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Hague woman, 35, was charged December 19 on a capias to show cause from the Northumberland County Circuit Court to revoke her bond for failing to comply with pre-trial instructions.

A Lancaster County man, 27, was charged December 23 with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, refusal of a breath test and crossing the double yellow lines.

A Lancaster County man, 30, was charged December 27 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for arraignment on a driving while suspended charge.

A Farnham woman, 35, was charged December 27 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to show for her arraignment on an original charge of a bad check.

An Ophelia man, 29, was charged December 28 with criminally trespassing and being drunk in public.

A Reedville man, 67, was charged January 5 on a summons for causing a telephone to ring to annoy.
