Sheriff’s Report 8-30-18

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Misdemeanors

A Pinckardsville Road woman, 20, was charged August 20 with assault and battery of a family member.

A White Chapel Road woman, 27, was charged August 22 with contempt of court.

A Hatton Avenue man, 40,was charged August 23 with threatening an illegal act with intent to intimidate or harass a person over the telephone.

A Rose Drive man, 52, was charged August 24 with assault of a family member and damage to a phone or phone line to prevent summoning law enforcement.

A Suffolk man, 41, was charged August 25 with driving while intoxicated and refusing to provide a blood or breath test.

An Old Bethel Road man, 47, was charged August 25 with possession of marijuana.

A White Chapel Road man, 64, was charged August 26 with assault and battery.

Felonies

Joseph S. Callahan, 46, of Johns Neck Road was charged August 24 with the felonies of burglary, grand larceny and destruction of property.

Kenneth M. White, 31, of Richmond was charged August 24 with two felonies of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Activity report

August 20: Staff responded to the 300 block of East Church Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance, to the 400 block of Loblolly Road to assist emergency management services (EMS) with a patient with an altered mental status, to Mosquito Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to a walk-in report of a found laptop computer in White Stone, to North Main Street for a domestic assault that occurred at the 800 block of Coxs Farm Road, to the 9700 block of Mary Ball Road for a stolen Honda XR 100 motorcycle, to the 100 block of Mantua Road for a verbal dispute with a family member, and to the 100 block of Sullavans Road for suicidal threats.

August 21: Staff responded to 300 block of Leetown Road to investigate an unattended death, to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle crash, to the 6500 block of Mary Ball Road for a found debit card, to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for an assault with injuries, to the 300 block of Avonne Street to assist KPD with shots fired in a residential area, and to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for a possible burglary in progress.

August 22: Staff responded to the 3100 block of White Chapel Road to assist EMS with entry into a residence for a medical alarm, to the 100 block of Old Fair Grounds Way to assist KPD with a possible fight in progress, and to the 40 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a fight in progress.

August 23: Staff responded to Crawfords Corner Road for trucks blocking the highway, to the end of Johns Neck Road for larceny from within a motor vessel, to Tammy Drive and Wayne Circle for suspicious activity, and to Mary Ball and Pinckardsville roads for a reckless driver.

August 24: Staff responded near Devils Bottom Road and Daniels Drive for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for graffiti painted on private property, to the 100 block of Lively Oaks Road for a person with mental issues, to Clifton Avenue and Oak Ridge Drive to assist KPD with gunshots, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for reckless driving-drag racing, and to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a domestic assault.

August 25: Staff responded to the 5400 block of Mary Ball Road for an abandoned vehicle, to a walk-in report of obtaining money by false pretenses, to Pierces Road for illegal use fireworks, and to the 100 block of Windjammer Lane for the report of two possible intoxicated people having sexual relations in public.

August 26: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Devils Bottom roads for an abandoned vehicle, to the 500 block of Mosquito Point Road to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a family member, to Chinns Mill for a suspicious person, to the 12200 block of Mary Ball Road for a possible suicidal person, to Lively for a stolen grave stone, to the 200 block of Old Fair Grounds Way to assist KPD with a disorderly person, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver on a motorcycle.

Staff also conducted 19 traffic stops, issued 12 summonses, assisted nine motorists, recorded four deer strike accidents, two calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged an inmate transport, received 10 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded a call for animal control.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a possible propane fire on North Main Street and a lift assistance request on Town Centre Drive.

Upper Lancaster FVD responded to a brush fire on Pierces Road.

Upper Lancaster and Kilmarnock VFDs responded to an electrical fire on Courthouse Road and to a fire/smoke alarm on Mary Ball Road.

Lancaster EMS calls

For the week of August 19-25, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 43 calls for service including 27 medical emergencies, seven injuries, two traffic accidents, two fires and five other calls.

Northumberland EMS calls

For the week of August 20-26, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 22 calls including 19 medical emergencies, two vehicle crashes and a football standby.
