Sheriff’s Report

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against three individuals.

A Merry Point Road man, 22, was charged February with assault and battery of a family member, assault and battery and the use of abusive language.

A Topping woman, 19, was charged February 15 with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving-improper brakes.

A Fox Hill Road woman, 39, was charged February 16 with harassment of another by computer.

Activity report

February 12: Staff responded to the 100 block of East Church Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with the investigation of an unattended death, and to a walk-in report of a violation of a protective order.

February 13: Staff responded to the 5300 block of Morattico Road for a suicidal person, to the 200 block of Sandlin Drive for a possible burglary, and to the 100 block of William B. Graham Court for a disorderly male impersonating a law enforcement officer.

February 14: Staff responded to a walk-in report of an attempt to commit identity fraud, to the 3100 block of White Chapel Road to investigate an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, to the 2000 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a verbal disagreement, and to the 100 block of Levelfields Lane for a possible burglary.

February 15: Staff responded to the 100 block of Poplar Road for an attempt to receive funds by fraud, and to a report of illegal drug sales in the Gaskins and Greentown roads area.

February 16: Staff responded to the 200 block of Buzzards Neck Road for a dirt bike on the public highway at night, to the 1200 block of Mosquito Point Road to investigate the theft of a safe, to Lancaster Shores for rapid fire gun shots, to the 5700 block of White Chapel Road for a stolen vehicle license plates, to the 100 block of Primary School Circle for the reported use of illegal narcotics within a school zone, and to the 3100 block of White Chapel Road for the theft of tools.

February 17: Staff responded to the 100 block of Windmill Point Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Ice House Drive for a suspicious vehicle, to the 100 block of Pembroke Lane for a civil matter, and to the 600 block of Bald Eagle Drive for an open door on an unoccupied dwelling.

February 18: Staff responded to Goodluck Road for a fight in progress at a large party, to the 100 block of Old Fairground Way to assist KPD with a suspicious person who appeared to be intoxicated or had mental issues.

Staff also conducted 20 traffic stops, issued five summonses, assisted four motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated two building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged an inmate transport, received 12 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Whittaker Lane and a traffic accident on James B. Jones Memorial Highway.

EMS calls

For the week of February 11 through 17, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 43 calls for service including 28 medical emergencies, seven injuries, two traffic accidents, a fire and five other calls.
