Sheriffs’ Reports

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felonies

Brandon A. Davis, 20, of Russell Lane was charged January 24 with felony attempted rape.

John S. Hancock, 42, of Virginia Beach was charged January 24 with felony revocation of a suspended sentence and probation.

Misdemeanors

A Morattico Road man, 53, was charged January 27 with the violation of a protective order.

A Regina Road woman, 39, was charged January 27 with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Activity report

January 22: Staff responded to the 700 block of Beach Road to investigate a theft, to the 3200 block of Irvington Road for suspicious vehicles, and to Lively for a reckless driver on Mary Ball Road.

January 23: Staff responded to the 100 block of School Street for a disorderly person, to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a verbal disagreement and violation of a protective order, to the 100 block of Washington Street for the report of loud music, to a walk-in report of obtaining medication by fraud and theft, and to Belle Isle Road for a traffic hazard.

January 24: Staff responded to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for the report of a verbal disagreement involving neighbors, to the 11000 block of River Road for a domestic disturbance with threats to harm another, to the 300 block of Fairway Drive to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with a trespasser, to a walk-in report of an attempted rape and the obtaining of a protective order, to the 6000 block of Windmill Point Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 100 block of King Carter Drive for an assault.

January 25: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Regina roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Cove Creek Court for a suspicious vehicle, to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic assault involving alcohol, to the 100 block of Snug Harbor Drive for larceny of household items, and to the 200 block of Russell Lane for abandoned canines.

January 26: Staff responded to the 100 block of Harris Road to investigate an unattended/sudden death, to the 700 block of Buzzards Neck Road for vandalism of a fence, to Mary Ball and Pinkardsville roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Irvington Road for a reckless driver, to the 1900 block of Goodluck Road for juvenile misbehavior, to the area of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a reckless driver, to a walk-in complaint of a violation of a protective order, to the 100 block of Beechwood Drive for a domestic disturbance, to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a fight in progress, and to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.

January 27: Staff responded to the 100 block of Josh Lane for a domestic disturbance, to the 1000 block of White Chapel Road for a domestic disturbance, and to a walk-in report of stalking and petition for a protective order.

January 28: Staff responded to Crawfords Corner Road for a traffic crash involving a vehicle that hit a tree.

Staff also conducted 17 traffic stops, issued 12 summonses, assisted six motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated one building alarm, logged three inmate transports and received nine E911 hang-up calls.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) responded to a lift assistance call on West Point Road and to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and Pinkardsville roads. KVFD also responded with White Stone VFD to a structure fire on Benson Road.

The White Stone VFD also responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Skye Drive.

The Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and Regina roads, a fire/smoke alarm on Oak Point Road and a traffic crash on Crawfords Corner Road.

EMS calls

For the week of January 21-27, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 39 calls for service including 21 medical emergencies, 10 injuries, a traffic accident, two fires and five other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported misdemeanor charges against five individuals.

A Heathsville man, 33, was charged January 22 with violating a protective order.

A Richmond man, 41, was charged January 24 with failing to appear in the Loudoun County Juvenile Domestic & Relations Court. Northumberland County made the arrest.

A Heathsville man, 25, was charged January 25 with failing to obey rules, regulations and requirements. This was a Williamsburg/James City County warrant served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Reedville woman, 59, was charged January 25 with two summons for dogs running at large, three summons for failing to tag her animals and three summons for failing to vaccinate.

A Reedville man, 29, was charged January 27 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving revoked/suspended and reckless driving. These were Virginia State Police warrants.
