Sheriffs’ Reports


Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felonies

Marcus A. Monday, 24, of New South Road was charged January 31 with the felony of perjury.

Rose M. Turner, 51, of Smithfield was charged January 31 with the felony of perjury.

Matthew G. Stevens, 24, of Farnham was charged February 2 with felony hit and run that involved personal injury and reckless driving.

Misdemeanor

A Tammy Drive man, 50, was charged January 31 with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Activity report

January 29: Staff responded to the 100 block of Jones Drive for a possible overdose of narcotics, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for an assault, to the 4200 block of Lara Road for the reported theft of photographs, and to the 500 block of Southport Lane to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance.

January 30: Staff responded to the 200 block of Taylors Creek Road for a suspicious person, to the 400 block of East Church Street for a domestic assault, to the 4500 block of Black Stump Road for a burglary in progress, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for suspicious activity, and to the 2000 block of Weems Road for the theft of gravel.

January 31: Staff responded to the 100 block of Second Avenue to assist emergency management services (EMS) with a medical patient, to the 2500 block of Morattico Road for an assault, and to the 500 block of Senora Road for an unattended death.

February 1: Staff responded to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly person, to the 100 block of Methodist Church Road to investigate a reported burglary and larceny of U.S. currency, to Doggett Lane and River Road for a suspicious person, and to the 500 block of Southport Lane to assist KPD with a juvenile behavioral complaint.

February 2: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for the report of a two-vehicle traffic crash, to Nugent Lane and Black Stump Road for the report of four wheelers on the highway and damaging property, and to the 200 block of Boles Avenue to assist EMS with the lifting of a patient.

February 3: Staff responded to the 2500 block of Merry Point Road for a domestic assault, to the 100 block of White Pine Drive for hazardous materials being burned, to the 5200 block of Morattico Road to investigate the theft of tools, ladder and extension cords, to the 100 block of Washington Street for loud music, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious vehicle.

February 4: Staff responded to the 700 block of Browns Store Road to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with a fight in progress involving a large crowd at a party, to the 1100 block of James Wharf Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 400 block of Old Orchard Road for a domestic disturbance and a subject with mental issues.

Staff also conducted 21 traffic stops, issued nine summonses, assisted six motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled three calls for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, received nine E911 hang-up calls, and one call for animal control.

Fire calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to Scott Road for a tree on the power line; General Puller Highway in Middlesex to assist with a structure fire, to a traffic crash on Rappahannock Drive and with Kilmarnock VFD to Kent Cove Road for a structure fire.

The Kilmarnock VFD also responded to Otter Cove Lane for a tree on a power line.

EMS calls

For the week of January 28 through February 3, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 46 calls for service including 30 medical emergencies, six injuries, two traffic accidents, two fires and six other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against eight individuals.

Felonies

Christian Paul Lyons, 34, of White Stone was charged January 30 with assault and battery of a family member, third-plus offense.

Robert Lee Jewell Jr., 36, of Heathsville was charged February 2 with carnal knowledge with a child, age 13-14, without force and consensual sex act with a child, 15 years or older.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville woman, 75, was charged January 30 on a summons for failing to have an animal sterilized.

A Callao woman, 52, was charged February 1 with driving suspended and speeding. These were Lancaster County papers served by the NCSO.

A Heathsville man, 23, was charged February 1 with reckless driving.

A Heathsville man, 46, was charged February 1 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Lancaster man, 20, was charged February 3 with disorderly conduct and being drunk in public.

A Kilmarnock man, 32, was charged February 4 with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, speeding and refusal of the breath test.
