Sheriffs’ Reports

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felonies

Brandon M. Roberts, 26, of Mary Ball Road was charged February 20 with felony revocation of a suspended sentence and probation and two counts of violating a protective order.

Brandon J. Curry, 25, of Leetown Road was charged February 23 with felony pretrial violation.

Misdemeanors

A Greentown Road man, 60, was charged February 23 with violation of pre-trial probation.

Activity report

February 19: Staff responded to the 1700 block of Morattico Road for a suspicious/abandoned vehicle, to the 100 block of Buzzards Neck Road for the destruction of a mailbox, to Devils Bottom Road to assist Virginia State Police with the search of a vehicle, and to the 700 block of Corrotoman Circle for the theft of U.S. currency.

February 20: Staff responded to the 200 block of Shady Lane to check the welfare of medical patient, to the 300 block of Gaskins Road for a trespasser, to the 100 block of Washington Street for a fight in progress, and to the 100 block of Goat Lane for a possible prowler.

February 21: Staff responded to Kamps Mill Road for a suspicious/abandoned vehicle, to the 200 block of Rocky Neck Road to assist emergency management services (EMS) with a patient that was deceased on arrival, to Mary Ball and Field Trial roads for a reckless driver, to the 2300 block of Irvington Road for rapid gun fire, to the Robert O. Norris Bridge Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris causing a traffic hazard, and to the 900 block of Christ Church Road for a domestic assault.

February 22: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Field Trial roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for a suspicious vehicle, to the 1400 block of Hoecake Road for a suspicious vehicle at an unoccupied residence, to the 1300 block of Lumberlost Road for single overturned vehicle traffic crash.

February 23: Staff responded to the 200 block of Wiggins Avenue to assist EMS gain entry to a residence after receiving a report of the need of medical attention, to the 100 block of School Street for a possible suicidal person, to West Point and Merry Point roads for a tree down in the highway causing a traffic hazard, and to West Point Road and Harbor Drive for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

February 24: Staff responded to a walk-in report of the theft of photographs, to the 500 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department with the report of vandalism to a vehicle and domestic disturbance, and to the 600 block of Alfonso Road for a juvenile bitten by a canine.

February 25: Staff responded to Johns Neck Road for go-cart riding on the public highway, to River Bluff Road for gunshots nearby, to the 100 block of Harris Road to investigate an injury caused by the accidental discharge of a handgun, to Buzzards Neck Road for a reckless driver and possession of weapons, and to Norris Bridge for a traffic hazard caused by a defective traffic signal light.

Staff also conducted 14 traffic stops, issued three summonses, assisted four motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received six E911 hang-up calls and fielded four calls for animal control.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and Field Trial roads, a lift assistance request on Lonesome Pine Trail and a request to establish a landing zone on Hazzard Lane.

Upper Lancaster VFD also responded with Kilmarnock VFD to a chimney fire on East Highview Drive.

White Stone VFD responded to a traffic crash on Lumberlost Road.

EMS calls

For the week of February 18 through 24, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 49 calls for service including 27 medical emergencies, eight injuries, five traffic accidents, a fire and eight other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against 15 individuals.

Felonies

Allen Fielden Miller, 54, of Callao was charged February 15 with strangulation and assault and battery of a family member.

James Wesley Walker Jr. of Reedville was charged February 21 with driving under the influence, third offense in a 10-year period, and driving while revoked.

Stacy Evitt, 42, of Henrico was charged February 22 with unauthorized use of a vehicle and assault and battery of a family member. These were Henrico County warrants, served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry Maurice Gordon, 37, of Hampton was charged February 23 with two felony counts of selling/distribution of a schedule I or II drug. He also was charged with a felony count of selling/distribution of marijuana and reckless driving.

Arnell Croxton, 55, of Heathsville was charged February 24 with a felony driving revoked/habitual offender, second offense and defective equipment.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville woman, 49, was charged February 13 on a summons for determination of a threatening dog.

A Kilmarnock woman, 27, was charged February 16 with harassment by computer. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

A Gainesville man, 50, was charged February 18 with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

A Callao man, 39, was charged February 20 with a capias/attachment of the body for failing to pay child support. This was a Richmond County warrant served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Lottsburg man, 51, was charged February 20 with criminal trespassing after being forbidden to do so.

A Lottsburg woman, 49, was charged February 20 with criminal trespassing after being forbidden to do so.

A Heathsville man, 45, was charged February 21 with a capias/attachment of the body for failing to pay child support. This was a Henrico County warrant, served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville man, 45, was charged February 23 with driving suspended/revoked. This was a Northumberland County warrant, served by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

A Callao man, 37, was charged February 24 on a summons for determination of a dangerous dog.

A Reedville man, 61, was charged February 25 with shoplifting from Food Lion.
