Sheriffs’ Reports

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felonies

Jonte A Towles, 22, of Merry Point Road was charged March 26 with four felony counts of attempted murder in the second degree, shoot or throw a missile at an occupied vehicle, use or display a firearm in the commission of a felony, possess a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of contempt of court.

Misdemeanors

A Weems Road man, 50, was charged March 28 with a bond revocation due to new charges.

A Washington Street woman, 34, was charged March 28 with assault and battery and destruction of property less than $1,000.

Activity report

March 26: Staff responded to the 400 block of Greentown Road for a missing juvenile, to the 500 block of Rappahannock Drive for a suspicious package, to Irvington and Weems roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 400 block of West Point Road for a domestic assault, to the 100 block of Gemini Road for a trespasser displaying a weapon.

March 27: Staff responded to the 400 block of Levelgreen Road for a domestic assault with a juvenile involved, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver, and to the 9400 block of Mary Ball Road for a domestic disturbance.

March 28: Staff responded to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for an assault and destruction of property, to the 2000 block of Old Salem Road for a traffic crash, to the 100 block of Fox Tail Lane for the theft of property, to Blackstump Road for a possible burglary, to the 400 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for the report of gun shots in the area, to the 300 block of Yankee Point Road to assist emergency management services (EMS) with a reported medical patient, and to the 17400 block of Mary Ball Road for a person in distress yelling for help.

March 29: Staff responded to a walk-in report of threats with a weapon and threatening text messages, and to the 6000 block of Windmill Point Road for the reported discharge of a weapon into a dwelling.

March 30: Staff responded to Johns Neck Road and Gordon Drive for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Morattico and River roads for a single-vehicle versus a tree traffic crash with injuries, to the 500 block of Old Orchard Drive for a domestic disturbance with injuries, to Norris Bridge for a traffic light malfunctioning, and to Irvington Road and White Pine Drive for a two-vehicle head-on traffic crash with entrapment and serious injuries.

March 31: Staff responded to the 900 block of Irvington Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a suicidal person.

April 1: Staff responded to the 600 block of Pinckardsville Road for an abandoned vehicle, possibly involved in traffic crash; and to the 100 block of Second Avenue to assist KPD and EMS with a reported medical issue.

Staff also conducted 16 traffic stops, issued seven summonses, assisted 10 motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled four calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, received 12 E911 hang-up calls and fielded three calls for animal control.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Davis Mill Road and to a traffic crash at Morattico and River roads.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to separate traffic crashes at Weems and Irvington roads and Irvington Road and White Pine Drive.

EMS calls

For the week of March 25 through 31, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 44 calls for service including 22 medical emergencies, three injuries, six traffic accidents, a fire and 12 other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

Brittany Dyan Elliott, 28, of Fairfax was charged May 28 with unauthorized use of a vehicle and petit larceny, third offense.

Steven Richard Moore, 25, of Heathsville was charged March 28 with a capias to show cause for a probation violation, with the original charge of selling/distribution of a schedule I or II drug. This was a Westmoreland County Circuit Court charge. Moore also was charged with trying to alter a drug screening test. This charge was a Richmond County charge. Both of these were served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Arnell Croxton, 55, of Lottsburg was charged March 29 with being a habitual offender, second offense and a summons was issued for defective equipment.

Derek Jason Hoyt, 44, of Reedville was charged April 1 with felony possession of a Schedule I or II drug.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville man, 44, was charged March 28 with animal cruelty.

A Farnham man, 30, was charged March 28 with a capias/attachment of the body for failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court.

A Newtown, Pa., man, 28, was charged March 30 with driving under the influence of alcohol.

A Wicomico Church man, 35, was charged March 31 with a capias to show cause to revoke his bond.

A Lottsburg man, 52, was charged April 1 with driving while under the influence of alcohol and refusal of a breath test.
