Sheriffs’ Reports 3-28-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against five individuals.

A White Stone man, 34, was charged March 19, with cruelty to animals.

A White Stone man, 35, was charged March 20 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Lancaster man, 21, was charged March 20 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Burgess man, 20, was charged March 20 with assault.

A Kilmarnock man, 41, was charged March 21 with failure to obey a court order.

Activity report

March 18: Staff responded to the 200 block of School Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a trespasser, to the 100 block of Wesley Terrace to investigate a reported suicide, to the 300 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a fight in progress, to a walk-in report of obtaining money by false pretenses, and to the 10600 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a domestic disturbance.

March 19: Staff responded to the 300 block of Holly Haven Road for an attempted scam, to the 100 block of Pine Drive for vandalism of a vehicle, and to the 100 block of New South Road for a reckless driver.

March 20: Staff responded to River and White Chapel roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash; and to the 1000 block of Johns Neck Road for a structure fire.

March 21: Staff responded to Courthouse Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

March 22: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of Forest Haven Drive for a trespasser, to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist KPD with a domestic disturbance, and to Twin Branch Road for vandalism of a vehicle.

March 23: Staff responded to the 900 block of Irvington Road for a possible prowler, to the 2100 block of Black Stump Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to River Road for under-aged alcohol consumption and reckless driving, and to the 400 block of North Main Street for a verbal disagreement.

March 24: Staff responded to the 500 block of Lancaster Drive for a domestic assault and reckless driving, to the 600 block of North Main Street for an intoxicated disorderly person, and to the 400 block of Greentown Road for a verbal disagreement.

Staff also conducted 24 traffic stops, issued 12 summonses, assisted five motorists, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, received 14 calls for E911 hang-up calls and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department established a landing zone on Irvington Road and responded to a traffic crash at Weems and Christchurch roads.

The Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash on River Road.

The White Stone, Kilmarnock and Upper Lancaster departments responded to a structure fire on Johns Neck Road.

EMS calls

For March 10-16, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 48 calls for service, including 30 medical emergencies, nine injuries, a traffic accident, a fire and seven other calls.

For March 17-23, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 42 calls for service, including 26 medical emergencies, five injuries, three traffic accidents, a fire and seven other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

Shawane Latrice Crockett, 29, of Lancaster was charged March 18 with malicious bodily injury.

George Antonio Lee, 44, of Hague was charged March 19 with a direct indictment issued from the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury for kidnapping/abducting by force without justification and assault against a family member, third-plus offense.

Jeremy Gene Olsen, 34, of Kilmarnock was charged March 19 with malicious wounding, strangulation and preventing/delaying of communication by phone. These were Northumberland County warrants served by Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

Misdemeanors

A Haynesville man, 21, was charged March 18 with possession of marijuana, second plus offense in Northumberland County. He was also served a warrant out of Richmond County for assault and battery.

A Heathsville man, 22, was served a summons March 18 issued in Richmond County for causing a phone/pager to ring to annoy another.

A Farnham woman, 23, was charged March 23 with a capias/attachment of the body from the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear after signing a form to appear for trial.

A Reedville man, 44, was charged March 23 with obstruction of justice.

A Heathsville man, 36, was charged March 24 with attempting to defeat a drug or alcohol screening by substitution. This was a Richmond County warrant served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville man, 45, was charged March 25 with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense. He also was issued a summons for failing to drive in the right lane.

Fire calls

For March 18-25, the Callao VFD responded to three structure fires, a woods fire, a vehicle fire and two medical calls.

The Fairfields VFD responded to two structure fires, a motor vehicle crash, a gas leak/spill and a medical call.

EMS calls

For March 11-18, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 38 calls including 27 medical emergencies, six trauma/falls, three standby requests and two motor vehicle crashes.
