Sheriffs’ Reports

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.

Felonies

Karon M. Ball, 18, of Bluff Point Road was charged June 11 with felony breaking into a residence to commit a larceny and grand larceny.

Misdemeanors

A Morattico Road man, 53, was charged June 12 with failing to appear in court.

A Courtney Drive man, 37, was charged June 12 with failing to appear on a traffic charge.

Activity report

June 11: Staff responded to the 100 block of Jones Drive for a burglary with intent to assault, to Railway Road for a downed tree in the highway causing a traffic hazard, to the 2000 block of Black Stump Road for a stolen 4-wheeler, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a person with mental issues, to the 3700 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a domestic assault, to the 500 block of Nuttsville Road to investigate a burglary, to the 800 block of Chesapeake Trail for a boating accident resulting in a death investigation, and to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a fight in progress.

June 12: Staff responded to the 8500 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly person, to the 200 block of King Carter Drive for a trespasser, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for counterfeit money used to purchase merchandise, to Fleets Bay Road for 4-wheelers damaging field crops, to the 600 block of Whispering Pines Road for juvenile behavior issues, to the 5300 block of Morattico Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 100 block of Holly Haven Road for a possible prowler.

June 13: Staff responded to the 700 block of Middle Gate to assist emergency management services (EMS) with a medical issue, to the 5000 block of Windmill Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 400 block of Greentown Road to check the medical welfare of a patient after being contacted by a hospital, to a walk-in report of trespassers in the Merry Point area, and to the 500 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for a traffic hazard from a downed tree.

June 14: Staff responded to Old Fairgrounds Way for a law enforcement officer in need of assistance, to Morattico and Nuttsville roads for juveniles blocking the highway, to the 100 block of Oyster Creek Drive for a prowler, and to the 200 block of Wiggins Avenue to assist KPD with an attempted burglary.

June 15: Staff responded to the 200 block of Mifarm Road for suspicious activity, to the 300 block of Carters Creek Drive to investigate the theft of boat parts, to the 1600 block of Rocky Neck Road for an off-road vehicle on the highway driving recklessly, to the 500 block of Rappahannock Drive for a recovered license plate, to King Carter Drive and Lancaster Road for lines down in the highway causing a traffic hazard, to Lumberlost Road for an assault, to River Bluff Road for two pickup trucks acting suspiciously and driving recklessly, to the 700 block of Goodluck Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 900 block of Irvington Road for vandalism to a vehicle.

June 16: Staff responded to the 5200 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a three-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, to the 200 block of Dragon Fly Drive for a burglary and the theft of a firearm, to Mary Ball and Kamps Mill roads for an abandoned vehicle, to the 200 block of Mifarm Road for a possible burglary, to Paynes Creek Road for fireworks being set off, and to the 500 block of Wilson Lane for an assault.

June 17: Staff responded to the 9900 block of Mary Ball Road for a large crowd causing a disturbance, to Wiggins Avenue to assist KPD with gunshots fired, to the 300 block of Riverwood Drive for a fight in progress, to the 6000 block of Windmill Point Road for the report of gunshots, to the 500 block of Southport Lane to assist KPD with a domestic disturbance, to the 700 block of Nuttsville Road for an attempted burglary, and to the 2700 block of White Chapel Road for the report of fireworks.

Staff also conducted 21 traffic stops, issued 16 summonses, assisted seven motorists, recorded four deer strike accidents, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged five inmate transports, received seven E911 hang-up calls, and fielded four calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department last week responded to a boating accident off Chesapeake Trail, a request for traffic hazard assistance on Irvington Road and a traffic crash on Windmill Point Road.

The White Stone VFD and Kilmarnock VFD responded to a cook stove fire on Way Point Lane.

The White Stone VFD, Kilmarnock VFD and Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a structure fire on Chesapeake Drive.

The Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to a traffic crash on Lara Road, a request for EMS lift assistance on Merry Point Road and a traffic crash with injuries on Mary Ball Road.

EMS calls

From June 6 to June 16, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 37 calls for service including 20 medical emergencies, two injuries, three traffic accidents, four fires and eight other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against 10 individuals.

Felonies

James McCoy Wilton, 74, of Callao was charged June 12 with possession of a Schedule I or II drug.

William Maurice Hudnall, 38, of Heathsville was charged June 16 with five felony counts of failing to register as a sex offender and one felony count of perjury.

Cintez Carneal Gibson, 32, of Lancaster was charged June 16 on a direct indictment from the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury with two counts of distribution/sale for profit a Schedule I or II drug. He also was charged with sell/distribution of an imitation Schedule I or II drug. He was arrested by the Colonial Heights Police Department.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville man, 18, was charged June 11 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for an original charge of reckless driving.

A Callao man, 51, was charged June 12 with being drunk in public.

A Callao woman, 51, was charged June 13 with assault and battery.

A Farnham man, 53, was charged June 13 with assault and battery.

A Haynesville man, 29, was charged June 14 with two summonses for failing to tag/license an animal and two summonses for failing to vaccinate an animal.

A Heathsville man, 61, was charged June 14 with failing to tag/license an animal and failing to vaccinate.

A Lottsburg man, 51, was charged June 16 with driving without a license, second offense, and a summons for speeding.
