Sheriffs’ Reports

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against eight individuals.

Felonies

Joseph S. Callahan, 46, of Johns Neck Road was charged July 11 with felony larceny after previously being convicted of larceny two or more times.

Lawrence C. Palmer, 60, of Regina Road was charged July 12 with felony grand larceny.

Misdemeanors

An East Church Street man, 27, was charged July 11 with violation of a protective order.

A Shady Grove Lane man, 42, was charged July 11 with assault and battery.

A Heathsville man, 47, was charged July 11 with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A River Road woman, 27, was charged July 11 with violation of pre-trial release.

A Chesapeake Drive man, 23, was charged July 14 with violation of community based probation and possession of marijuana.

A Maryland man, 22, was charged July 14 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

July 9: Staff responded to the 200 block of Wiggins Avenue for a medical emergency and to assist emergency medical services (EMS), to the 800 block of Mosquito Point Road for a civil issue with renters, to a walk-in report of a child custody issue, and to the 100 block of Georgetown Road for a burglary and theft from a building.

July 10: Staff responded to the 400 block of Chesapeake Drive for the theft of U.S. Currency, and to the 1100 block of Buzzards Neck Road after receiving a report to check the welfare of a family member.

July 11: Staff responded to the 100 block of Shady Grove Lane for a domestic assault, to the 500 block of Cowshed Road for theft, to the 100 block of Merry Point Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a suspicious person.

July 12: Staff responded to the 100 block of Pine Drive for a domestic assault, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge to assist Virginia State Police (VSP) with a vehicle search, and to the 200 block of James Cove Landing for a missing elderly person who was located after the arrival of deputies.

July 13: Staff responded to the 100 block of Chesapeake Drive for a civil issue and completion of construction work, to Irvington Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 11000 block of River Road for threats made to harm another, to the 2600 block of Morattico Road for a child custody issue, to the 300 block of Woods Drive for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to the 200 block of Old Fairground Way to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a verbal disagreement, to the 500 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with underage drinking of alcohol, and to the 100 block of Dixie Avenue for gun shots.

July 14: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for an intoxicated pedestrian, to the 400 block of Benson Road for trespassers, to the 1600 block of Windmill Point Road for a domestic assault involving alcohol, to the 400 block of Benson Road for a trespasser and vandalism, and to the 100 block of Harris Road for a suicidal person.

July 15: Staff responded to Mary Ball Road in White Stone for a possible intoxicated driver, to the 8700 block of River Road for a single overturned vehicle traffic crash, to the 800 block of Mosquito Point Road for vandalism, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for three juvenile trespassers, and to the 100 block of First Street for a suspicious person.

Staff also conducted 23 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged three inmate transports, received 11 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire/smoke alarm on South Main Street.

The Kilmarnock and Upper Lancaster VFDs responded to a vehicle fire on River Road and to a dock fire on Yankee Point Road.

The Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to a traffic crash on River Road.

The White Stone VFD responded to a traffic crash on Irvington Road.

EMS calls

For the week of July 8 through 14, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 40 calls for service including 20 medical emergencies, nine injuries, a traffic accident, four fire calls and six other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against 16 individuals.

Felonies

Dakota Anastasio Galves, 23, of Reedville was charged July 3 on a direct indictment from the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury with two counts of sell/distribution of ½ oz, but less than 5 pounds of marijuana. He also was charged with two counts of selling/distribution of a controlled substance namely a Schedule II drug. Galves also was served with a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to appear. These papers were served by the Virginia State Police.

Lawrence Michael Jenkins III, 19, of Reedville was charged July 3 on a direct indictment from the Northumberland Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury with two counts of selling/distribution of ½ oz. but less than 5 pounds of marijuana and one count of selling/distributing a controlled substance, namely a Schedule II drug. He also was charged with two capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court and one misdemeanor warrant for possession of marijuana. These papers were served by the Virginia State Police.

Jennifer Lauren Niess, 38, of Callao was charged July 4 with grand larceny.

William Christian Stephens, 45, of Fredericksburg was charged July 8 with two counts of assault and battery of a police officer and two counts of cursing or swearing in public.

Mattie Danielle Packett, 26, of Tappahannock was charged July 10, with assault and battery of a law enforcement officer. This was an Essex County warrant served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Vincent O’Neal Noel, 36, of Burgess was charged July 14 with three capias to show cause by the Westmoreland County Circuit Court. All three were for failing to appear in court on felony charges. He also was charged with driving suspended, fleeing from law enforcement and obstruction of justice from the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. He was issued a summons for having a supplemental high mount stop light on his vehicle. Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest.

Shoran Stafford Hudnall, 51, of Heathsville was charged July 14 with selling/distribution of a Schedule I or II drug.

Misdemeanors

An Annandale man, 53, was charged July 2 with assault and battery of a 17-year-old male and brandishing a firearm.

A Lancaster man, 47, was charged July 3 with assault and battery of a family member and being drunk in public.

A Burgess woman, 54, was charged July 3 with failing to obtain dog licenses, failing to vaccinate and two counts of animal cruelty.

A Woodstock man, 24, was charged July 6 with criminal trespass after being forbidden to do so, possession of marijuana and petit larceny.

A Reedville man, 33, was charged July 7 with two counts of failing to vaccinate his animals and two counts of failing to purchase tags.

A Lottsburg man, 52, was charged July 8 with illegally dumping trash. This was a Caroline County warrant, served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville woman, 49, was charged July 10 with driving suspended/revoked.

A Callao man, 24, was charged July 12 with damaging property.

A Farnham man, 42, was charged July 15 by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court with failing to appear in court.
