The Richard Henry Lee (RHL) Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) recently announced Avery Shivers is the 2017 winner of the George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest.
Shivers is the son of Dr. Greg and Lisa Shivers of White Stone. He is a student at Christchurch School.
Shivers will represent RHL at the Virginia Society SAR contest in February, reported RHL president Jim Russell Jr. The winner of the state contest will compete in the national contest.
Shivers’ theme for his winning essay is “Analyzing the Constitution and its Ability to Solve Our Nation’s Issues.”
A contestant must provide a bibliography citing five documents to support the essay…
