Gulls open softball
season with two wins

In double-header action March 2 to open the girls softball season, the Rappahannock Community College Gulls beat the Lady Tigers from St. Paul’s College, 14-2 and 16-9.

Hannah Sisson of Westmoreland County winds up for a sizzling fastball as the Gulls beat the Lady Tigers, 14-2 and 16-9. Backing her up are Anjelica Newsome of Northumberland County on second base and Morgan Whirley of Gloucester County in right field.

In future home games (all doubleheaders) the Gulls will host Southern Virginia University, March 11; Prince George’s Community College, March 13; Anne Arundel Community College, March 20; Virginia State University, March 23; William and Mary Club, March 27; and Patrick Henry Community College, April 24.

Home games are played on the Elizabeth Hinton Crowther Field at the Warsaw Campus.  All home games will begin at 1 and 3 p.m., except Virginia State at 3 and 5 p.m., and Patrick Henry at 2 and 4 p.m.

In away games (all doubleheaders), The Gulls will visit St. Paul’s College in Emporia, March 29; Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md., April 2; Virginia Union University in Richmond, April 10; the Community College of Baltimore County in Dundalk, Md., April 18; and the College of Southern Maryland in La Plata, Md., April 20,

All away games also begin at 1 and 3 p.m., except St. Paul’s and Prince George’s at 3 and 5 p.m.
