‘Twilight Baroque’ slated at Christ Church

Historic Christ Church & Museum will welcome fall with “Twilight Baroque,” a classical program of music from the latter part of Baroque period, 1680-1750. The concert will be presented from 4 to 6 p.m. September 30 inside Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems.

The Wren Masters, a quartet from Williamsburg, will entertain listeners with sonatas, suites and quartets from such well-known composers as J. S. Bach, Telemann and Rameau, as well as Francoeur, Pugnani, Abel and CPE Bach, reported publicity chairman Marilyn Hedges.

The 1735 Historic Christ Church offers an historic setting for music of a similar era, she said. The church’s outstanding acoustics will enhance this performance.

The program is part of Historic Christ Church & Museum’s Bringing Music to Life Concert Series. The event is funded by the Robert S. and Martha S. Scheu Fund of the River Counties Community Foundation, the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at christchurch1735.ticketleap.com or at the church. The event will include an intermission with libations available for purchase.
