Matt Muffelman of Mathews and James Dietz of Springfield, Mass., will row across the Chesapeake Bay on Saturday, July 13, to promote public recreational opportunities on local waterways.
The 16-mile journey will begin at Cape Charles and end at Williams Wharf Landing, 1039 Williams Wharf Road, on the East River in Mathews, where a celebration is planned.
Williams Wharf Landing will open at 3:30 p.m. and the rowers are expected to cross the finish line about 4:30 p.m. There will be food from Creekside Catering and Backwoods BBQ and music by Last Minute Grass.
Keynote speakers will be Rep. Rob Wittman and Joel Dunn, chief executive officer of the Chesapeake Conservancy.
