Post meeting

American Legion Post 117, 39 American Legion Way, Reedville, will meet on Thursday, February 2. The executive board will convene at 10 a.m., followed by the general membership at 10:30 a.m. Members are urged to bring prospective members and to remain for a meal after the meeting.

Great Decisions

Three Great Decisions discussion groups are now organizing. Discussion addresses current topics worldwide.

Groups will meet at St. Mary’s Whitechapel, contact Nick Ferriter, 462-6242; Deltaville Community Association Building, contact Stan Coloff, 776-7195; and Lancaster Community Library, contact Tom York, 435-0088.

Art reception

A First Friday Reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 3, at the Rappahannock Art League Studio Gallery, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The current exhibit, “Hot and Cold,” will be featured.

Patrons may meet some of the exhibiting artists and enjoy light refreshments. The public is welcome.

Trio concert

The piano trio of Hinkson, Custer and Gates will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 4, at the Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Good Luck Road, Kilmarnock. Tickets will be $25 at the door.

The trio will present Beethoven’s Trio Op. 11, selections from Carl Reinecke’s, Max Bruch’s and Nino Rota’s Piano Trios as well as Astor Piazzolla’s Oblivion.

RFM lecture

The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 2017 Winter/Spring lecture series will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, February 6, at Festival Halle, 177 Main Street, Reedville. Retired Lt. Col. Will Gwilliam will talk about linkages between the Old Colony (Plymouth) and the Old Dominion using genealogy.

The museum requests a $5 donation. Light refreshments will be served.

Chicken dinner

American Legion Post 117, 39 American Legion Way, Reedville, will serve a chicken dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, February 6. The fee is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 11 and younger.

The menu will include fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, baked beans, salad, rolls, soft drinks, iced tea and desserts.

Student musical

 Students will present “Radical Rappahannock, a 1980s Revue” at 7 p.m. February 9-11, in the David and Wendy Fine & Performing Arts Center in Marston Hall at Christchurch School, 49 Seahorse Lane, Christchurch.

Women’s Club

The Women’s Club of Lancaster County will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, at the WCLC Clubhouse, 16 Mary Ball Place, Lancaster. Guests and those interested in learning more about the club’s community service projects are welcome.

Winter market

The Winter Market at Reedville will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. February 11 at Festival Halle, 177 North Main Street, Reedville.

The market will give everyone an opportunity to enjoy a festive winter indoor activity along with local artists, crafters and food vendors who will display and sell their products.

Buffalo soldiers

The story of three Westmoreland County Buffalo soldiers will be presented by Daisy Douglas on February 12 at the Tappahannock Art Gallery, 200 Prince Street, Tappahannock.

Douglas will relate their history and give a dramatic presentation of these pioneering patriots. The program will begin at 2 p.m.

Paint Night

The Rappahannock Art League will host an Adult Paint Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. February 17 at the Studio Gallery, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Tommy Fox will lead a Piet Mondrian class.

Snacks will be provided and participants can bring their favorite beverage. For fees and registration, visit the gallery or call 436-9309.
