Magical Music

The Northern Neck Orchestra’s (NNO) Magical Music benefit concerts will continue at 7 p.m. tonight, February 22, at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Good Luck Road, Kilmarnock, with a performance of all four Mozart flute quartets. The concert will feature guest flautist Onorio Zaralli and the NNO String Trio.

Tickets are $25 and will be available at the door and at www.northernneckorchestra.org. Students will be admitted free with an online reservation. Advance reservations are appreciated.

Leedstown Resolutions

The Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society on Saturday, February 24, will celebrate its 11th annual Commemoration of the 1766 Leedstowns Resolutions. The theme is “Ten Years After.” The Commemoration will begin at 11 a.m. in the pavilion at Ingleside Winery, 5872 Leedstown Road, Oak Grove. 

Immediately following the Commemoration, there will be a catered luncheon by Angelo’s Restaurant and reduced-price wine tasting in the Barrel Room by Ingleside Winery. Lunch reservations are required and payment by check, $18 per person, may be sent to NNVHS, P.O. Box 716, Montross, VA 22520.

History celebration

The Northumberland Public Library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, will host an African American History Celebration at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25. The program will include music, dance, poetry, readings and refreshments.

Oyster roast

Smith Point Sea Rescue will hold its 24th oyster roast from 2 to 5 p.m. March 3 at Little River Seafood, 440 Rock Town Road, Reedville. The menu will include raw and steamed oysters, clam chowder, hot dogs, soft drinks and coffee.

Tickets are $35 per person in advance, or $40 at the door. Ages 9 and younger will be admitted free. Beer, wine and oyster knives will be available for an additional fee. Advance tickets are available at Lilian Lumber Home Center, Burgess; Jett’s Hardware, Reedville; RW’s Sport Shop, Callao; Noblett Appliance, Kilmarnock; and from members.

RFM concert

The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum will host a concert by The Meneely van Sante duo, featuring Janie Meneely and Rob van Sante, on March 3 at Festival Halle, 177 Main Street, Reedville. A traditional sock burning will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m.

The fee is $15 in advance or at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased at the museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, or 453-6529.

Country breakfast

Lancaster Union Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. will serve an all-you-can-eat country breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. on second Saturdays at the Lodge, 48 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The next breakfast will be March 10.

The fee is $10. Ages 5 and younger, uniformed military and law enforcement eat free.

Winter lecture

The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 2018 Winter/Spring lecture series will continue at 7 p.m. March 5 at Festival Halle, 177 Main Street, Reedville. The upcoming lecture will feature Dr. James “Bud” Robertson’s discussion of “Lee, Jackson and the Virginia They Loved.” The museum requests a $5 donation. Light refreshments will be served.

The Original Rhondels

The Original Rhondels will present a benefit show March 24 at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show, featuring beach music, Motown, blues and swing, will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

There will be a cash bar and food available for purchase. Show tickets are $15 before March 1, or $20 and must be purchased in advance at the club or www.bgcnn.com.
