Music on the
Half Shell Stage

Music on the Half Shell Stage will continue Thursday, August 15, at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. with the Something Different Duo, followed by the Mullins Sisters.

Admission is by season subscription or $10 per person. Ages 5 and younger are admitted free with a paying adult. Tickets are available at www.kilmarnockva.ticketleap.com or at the door.

Summer musical

“Smoke on the Mountain” will continue at the Westmoreland Players Theatre, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao. Performances will be offered at 3 p.m. August 17 and 18 and 7:30 p.m. August 15 and 16.

Paint Night

RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, will host an adult paint workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, August 16. The project will be “Oyster al Fresco.” The instructor will be Marilyn Sprouse.

Barbecue dinner

American Legion Adams Post 86 will host their annual barbecue dinner from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at the Post Home, 882 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock. Eat in or takeout meals will be available.

Tickets are $12 each for adults and $5 for children. Advance tickets may be purchased at Lester’s Barber Shop in Kilmarnock, or reserved by calling Jay, 580-2029. Tickets also will be available at the door.

Tribute to patriots

The Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society on Saturday, August 17, will host a tribute to patriots of African descent from the Northern Neck of Virginia who served during the American Revolutionary War.

The commemoration will be held at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 3585 Courthouse Road, Heathsville. Following the special tribute, event host First Baptist Church will serve lunch. The fee is $12 per plate. Reservations are not required.

TSoul and Friends

Faces Of Our Children will present TSoul and Friends from 4-8 p.m. August 24 at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The event will feature games, guest speakers, performances by local talent and a concert with TSoul and special guest.

Advance tickets are $10. Event day tickets are $15. Ages 5 and younger will be admitted free with an adult ticket holder. Advance tickets are available at tsoulsicklecellconcert.eventbrite.com/.

On Stage

The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts recently announced its 2019-20 On Stage season. Subscriptions are $165. Call the box office, 438-5555.

Concerts will include The Steep Canyon Rangers on September 22; The Philadelphia String Quartet, November 23; The Barefoot Movement, December 21; Leahy, March 14; and Fact 2 Face, April 18. All concerts take place at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

Music by the River

Music by the River at Belle Isle State Park will conclude Saturday, August 17, with country gospel by Southern Grace.

The concert will begin at 6 p.m. in the picnic area at the park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. A $5 parking fee is payable at the front gate. Picnics are encouraged.

Boots & BBQ

Tickets are on sale for the annual Northern Neck Land Conservancy’s annual Boots & BBQ celebration September 28 at Ditchley, 1571 Ditchley Road, Kilmarnock.

History tour

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society (LVHS) will host a “History and Heritage Tour of Northampton County” on September 12. The tour will depart Kilmarnock at 7 a.m. and return about 8 p.m.

The fee is $125 for the public, or $110 for LVHS members and includes all admission fees, expert guides and commentary, box lunch, wine tasting, morning and evening snacks, charter bus transportation and driver gratuity. RCA tickets

The Rappahannock Concert Association’s 2019-20 series will include October 12, The Tidewater Trio; November 9, The Quebe Sisters; March 21, The Drifters; April 25, John Bullard and Friends; and May 16, Nashville Legacy. Concerts will be held Saturday nights at the Performing Arts Theater, Northumberland County School Complex, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.
