VHSL announces all-state soccer squads

The Virginia High School League announced the 2018 Class 1 all-state boys soccer team following last Saturday’s state championship game at Radford University.

Galax, which beat Rappahannock High School, 6-0, in the state final, captured the top honors with senior forward Ricardo Osuna named player of the year and Troy Barkley, coach of the year. Galax captured back-to-back state titles and its fourth in five years. Osuna scored a hat trick in the title game.

Only those players selected to first-team all-region teams are eligible for selection to the all-state team, which is chosen by a committee comprised of eight soccer coaches, including two from each region…
