Lancaster County Public School (LCPS) volunteer tutors attended annual training sessions on September 20 and October 19.
Superintendent Steve Parker welcomed the tutors and expressed his gratitude for their service to the students of the LCPS school division.
Volunteer tutor coordinator Sandy Armstrong presented the training focusing on program procedures and policies for tutoring in each of the three schools in the county. Tutors were urged to work as a team with their students’ teachers to provide individualized remediation and support to each student in the program.
Seventy tutors attended the trainings and are being scheduled with students ranging from the four-year-old preschool program through the 12th grade, said Armstrong. Students are referred to the program by their teachers, guidance counselors, or school administrators.
